Telangana CM assures support to BrahMos Aerospace for its expansion
Overview
BrahMos Aerospace is the designer, developer and producer of universal BRAHMOS Weapon System.
BrahMos Aerospace was established as a Joint Venture (JV) entity between the Republic of India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Russian Federation’s Joint Stock Company "Military Industrial Corporation" "NPO Mashinostroyenia" (NPOM) following the signing of an Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) between the Govt. of India and Russian Federation on February 12, 1998. Today, BrahMos has strengthened its position as a globally-reckoned defence & aerospace enterprise engaged in the design, development, production, integration and marketing of the state-of-the-art BRAHMOS Supersonic Cruise Missile System.
The missile is designed for multiple platforms - ships, mobile launchers, aircraft and submarines against land and sea targets. Numerous successive successful launches with high accuracy and lethality have established the reliability of the weapon complex in all weather conditions.
Today several frontline ships of Indian Navy have been fitted with the BRAHMOS Weapon Complex. The Indian Army also has multiple BRAHMOS regiments armed with Mobile Launchers fully operational. The Indian Air Force’s frontline fighter aircraft Sukhoi-30MKI has successfully demonstrated BRAHMOS missile’s firing capability to strike targets from stand-off ranges. The successful induction of BRAHMOS in all the three services has made India the first and only country in the world to complete the “supersonic cruise missile triad”.
BRAHMOS has achieved historic milestones in the ‘Aatmanirbharta (Self-Reliance) in Defence’ initiative of Govt. of India. BrahMos Aerospace also prides itself in possessing a full-fledged design centre, a Missile Industrial Consortium for producing different sub-systems, a world-class integration, and check-out facilities with stringent quality control, which involves over 200 small and medium Indian public and private defence sector enterprises and institutions.
On the Export front, the state-of-the-art missile system, BRAHMOS, has carved its global footprint by becoming India’s first full-scale weapon to receive a historic export contract from the Republic of the Philippines for the procurement of shore-based anti-ship BRAHMOS missile system.
BrahMos Aerospace now aims to take it to the next level by designing and developing even more lethal and powerful variants of the existing weapon system.
