BrahMos Aerospace supports India in its fight against COVID-19
The deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has gripped the entire world, including India, affecting over 6.1 million people and causing over 371,000 casualties as of June 2020. India has put up a brave front and thoughtful strategy to fight the pandemic by taking all precautionary measures, including announcing the first phase of a nationwide lockdown which went into effect from March 25, 2020. The lockdown has reached its fifth phase since then, and would continue till June 8, 2020, with many relaxations being given now with an intent to steadily open up the economy.
The collective efforts of all citizens, including the country's doctors, nurses, paramedics and other health workers along with essential and emergency services has ensured that India fights this deadly virus head-on, with strong solidarity and support from every concerned citizen and organisation. To express gratitude to lakhs of these 'Corona Warriors' who have been bravely fighting the deadly disease by remaining at the forefront, the Indian Armed Forces jointly organised a nationwide 'Thanksgiving' event on May 3, 2020.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi set up the PM-CARES Fund on March 28, 2020 to help India's millions of poor workers and daily wage earners and those affected by over the month-long lockdown by seeking donations from individuals and organisations.
BrahMos Aerospace's officers and staff have pledged to make a humble contribution of one day's salary to the PM-CARES Fund to fight COVID-19
BrahMos Aerospace has also taken the initiative by setting up a community kitchen on April 3, 2020 to supply around 500 food packets daily till the COVID crisis is over. The kitchen staff, while maintaining the basic standards of hygiene and cleanliness, are working dedicatedly to prepare the food. Over 30,000 food packets have been distributed to the poor and needy.
India is surely and positively marching ahead to fight and win this difficult war against the Coronavirus with strong spirit of unity and solidarity.
